Giants Return For Arraez Have Eye-Popping Stats

The Giants traded Luis Arraez to the Philadelphia Phillies this morning for a pair of High-A pitchers in Marty Gair and Ramon Marquez. Both have been assigned to Eugene.

Both pitchers are high-strikeout guys, which is tantalizing.

Gair: 36 IP, 4.50 ERA, 66 strikeouts as a reliever.

Marquez: 59 IP, 1.68 ERA, 93 strikeouts, with 11 of his 12 outings be starts.

Gair is not ranked in the Giants' system, but Marquez is now San Francisco's No. 7 prospect. His 41.9% strikeout rate this season is higher than MLB-leader Jacob Misiorowski (40.6%), granted in the low minors.

Gair has a 44.6% strikeout rate himself, which is also impressive, though given his reliever status he doesn't get ranked as highly. Certainly two pitchers to keep an eye on in the system!
