At a time when the San Francisco Giants can hardly afford to lose a game, their Thursday night 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers probably puts a wrap on their postseason hopes.

The offense was totally missing against the Dodgers, getting only one run on a bases-loaded walk. The Dodgers pitching staff walked 10 San Francisco hitters. Yet the Giants could not get them home at all.

Logan Webb had an outstanding start for the Giants, going seven innings and only giving up two hits. He walked one while striking out five, but was pegged with the loss.

Rafael Devers and Patrick Bailey were the only Giants hitters who had hits. The Giants scored their run on a bases-loaded walk from Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen. San Francisco had a golden opportunity to score off of Treinen, but he struck out the next two Giants hitters to end any threat.

The Giants were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.

Los Angeles and San Francisco continue their four-game weekend series at Dodger Stadium on Friday night.

Oh, where are the Giants in the standings? They are 10 games behind the Dodgers in the National League West Division, so a division title is out of the picture. San Francisco remains three games out of an NL Wild Card spot.

It's just not looking good at all for the Giants to make the postseason.

In all honesty, it looks like a wrap for the 2025 MLB season for San Francisco unless a miracle happens. The Giants have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games, a number that really needed to be flipped the other way around.

When these two teams go at it, though, anything can happen.

Giants manager Bob Melvin isn't probably pleased to see such a great effort by Webb go for naught.

    There's always tomorrow night, though.
