Giants Claim Whitcomb Off Waivers

Shay Whitcomb, who was recently designated for assignment by the Houston Astros, was claimed off of waivers by the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Whitcomb is an infielder and was sent down to the Giants' Triple-A team in Sacramento, Calif., according to a post on the Giants' account on X. Giants Securing Fourth Place in NL West

Alright San Francisco Giants fans, this season has not turned out like you had hoped. I think the same can be said for first-year Giants manager Tony Vitello and president of baseball operations Buster Posey. Entering play on Wednesday, the Giants held a three-game lead over the Colorado Rockies for fourth place in the National League West Division. It has seemed like every time the Rockies make a little headway toward getting into fourth, the Giants find a way to put together a few wins. Giants Lose Heartbreaker to Padres

A ninth-inning rally proved to be enough for the San Diego Padres, who defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-5 on Saturday night at Petco Park in San Diego. Jake Cronenworth's RBI single to center field off Giants reliever Dylan Smith brought Xander Bogaerts home with the game-winning run. This marks a second straight loss for San Francisco to San Diego. Tyler Mahle got the start for Giants manager Tony Vitello, going 5.2 innings, giving up five hits, five earned runs, two walks, and struck out nine. Mahle also gave up a home run in his outing, too. Padres reliever Mason Miller suffered his first blown save this season. He did, though, pick up the victory and goes to 4-1 this season. Both the Giants and Padres are going to be watching the trading clock tick as the MLB Trade Deadline will hit on Monday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. ET.Aug 2, 2026

Arraez Scratched From Giants' Lineup

Whether MLB fans want to believe this or not, the San Francisco Giants scratched Luis Arraez from their starting lineup on Saturday night. According to a post on X from Giants reporter Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Arraez was scratched due to some cramping he felt during pregame warmups. The Giants reportedly removed him for precautionary measures. It also should be noted that Arraez's name has been mentioned in MLB Trade Deadline chatter. One report and the Giants and Tampa Bay Rays potentially doing a deal. Nothing on that, though, has not materialized as of Saturday night.Aug 2, 2026

Giants En Route to Rout of Brewers

It appears that the San Francisco Giants took their Wheaties and decided to beat up on the Milwaukee Brewers at Oracle Park on Wednesday afternoon. In the top of the seventh, the Giants had opened up a 10-2 lead on the National League Central Division leaders. This isn't a good sign for the Brewers and might be pointing out some deficiencies that the club might address at the MLB Trade Deadline. With starting pitching not looking strong right now, don't be surprised if the Brew Crew goes looking for pitchers.  The Giants, though, definitely needed this win to keep ahead of the Colorado Rockies for fourth place in the NL West.Jul 29, 2026

Giants Try to Break Four-Game Losing Streak

The San Francisco Giants have lost four straight games. They are going to try and break the streak on Wednesday in the final game of their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Landen Roupp, who has a 7-8 record and a 3.98 ERA, will get the start for the Giants. For the Royals, Seth Lugo will go to the mound. Lugo is 3-6 this season with a 4.39 ERA. San Francisco is getting closer to last place in the National League West Division. Giants Still Have Couple of Days for Rest

It wasn't a great night for the National League as those All-Stars lost to the American League 4-0 on Tuesday night at the MLB All-Star Game. But the San Francisco Giants do have a couple of more days off. The Giants are currently in fourth place in the National League West Division. Giants' Arraez Sees Action in All-Star Game

San Francisco Giants second baseman Luis Arraez saw some time on the field at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for the National League in the MLB All-Star Game. Arraez came in after Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies started the game. Arraez ended up going 0-for-1 at the plate.  In the end, the American League All-Stars shut out the NL squad 4-0. Philadelphia Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez, who gave up three runs in the top of the first inning, took the loss. The NL team was held to three total hits in the loss, too.Jul 15, 2026

Giants Have Rockies Breathing Down Their Necks

Don't look now, San Francisco Giants fans, but the Colorado Rockies are sneaking up on the Giants in the National League West Division standings. After a Giants loss on Tuesday night and a Rockies win, San Francisco is just one game ahead of Colorado for fourth place. What's even more worrisome is that the Giants and Rockies will square off in a weekend series at Oracle Park. It's a really good time for the Giants to get hot before entering the All-Star break. Wilkin Ramos DFA'd by Giants

Wilkin Ramos' time with the San Francisco Giants organization is pretty much over. On Friday, the Giants designated Ramos, a right-handed pitcher, for assignment. In two appearances in MLB games for the Giants, he gave up five earned runs in just two innings.  MLB Trade Rumors had the details on Friday afternoon.
