Outfielder Turner Hill has been tearing it up in the Pacific Coast League for the San Francisco Giants. Now, he's going to see his first career MLB action.

Turner Hill is getting a chance to play for the San Francisco Giants at the MLB level.

It's about time.

Hill, a center fielder, has been called up and will join the Giants on Friday.

He has been mashing Pacific Coast League pitching while playing for the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats. After nine games at the Double-A level to start this season, Hill was promoted to Sacramento.

How has been doing? In 88 games in the PCL, Hill is hitting .353 with nine home runs and 60 RBIs. He also has 22 doubles and four triples in his offensive output for the River Cats. Go ahead and toss in 23 stolen bases, too.

This kid looks like he's major-league ready right now. The Giants are entering a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday night at Oracle Park. Giants fans wait and see how manager Tony Vitallo will use Hill in a lineup or if he comes off the bench.

In three-plus seasons in the minors, Hill has a .295 career batting average with 14 home runs, 79 doubles, and 19 triples. Hill has a career .384 OBP and a .414 slugging percentage. Actually, it is a bit surprising that Hill is being called up at this point of the season.

San Francisco is not going to the postseason after such a miserable season in 2026. Still, they might want to see how Hill handles major-league pitching before this season comes to a close.

The PCL is known as a hitter's league, so seeing Hill put up these numbers isn't too surprising. Can these numbers translate into some major-league production? That's just one of a few things that Vitello and the Giants are going to be watching.

Hill's call-up was just one of a series of moves that San Francisco did on Friday. According to a post on the team's X account, outfielder Jonah Cox was recalled from the River Cats. Meanwhile, infielder Nate Furman and outfielder Grant McCray were optioned down to Sacramento after Wednesday's game.

Infielder Matt Chapman also was transferred to the 60-day Injured List.

San Francisco is looking to maintain its position in fourth place in the National League West Division. Should the Rockies sweep their three-game series this weekend, then Colorado will take over fourth place in the division.

The Giants do not want to become a last-place team in any way, shape, or form this season.
