Guardians RHP Triston McKenzie has elected for free agency after the 2025 MLB season.

McKenzie was originally highly touted when he was selected 42nd overall by the Guardians in the 2015 Draft, and eventually making his MLB Debut in 2020.

The 2022 season was his best of his professional career where he postted an 11-11 record and a sub-3.00 ERA. Since then, it's been downhill.

He had two straight seasons with an ERA of over 5.00 and then in this season, made four relief appearances and 5.2 innings, and allowed seven earned runs.

So perhaps a fresh start was necessary for the team and the player.
