Stephen Vogt was asked at his end of the season media availability about how the Guardians pulled off their historic 15.5 game comeback in 2025.

"To answer it really shortly, I have no clue," is an all-time hilarious response. And yet, it speaks to the way he and the team just flat out didn't care about how far they'd fallen. They were just focused on getting back to work and figuring out how to be better.

Vogt made it clear that he was proud of the tam for their unbelievable comeback, but he also sure didn't seem to care a whole lot about winning the AL Central ... because that's not the goal. The goal is to win the World Series.

Cleveland took a good step in that direction this year by winning the division and giving itself a chance to play for a title, but ultimately the Guardians were knocked out of the postseason far earlier than they hoped. I thought Vogt toed the line nicely between wanting to recognize a nice accomplishment, while also not being disingenuous. This wasn't the season they hoped for and just because they're a small market team or have to deal with different economics than other clubs doesn't mean they're happy about having had a "pretty good" season. It's October 7th and they've been done for five days.
