In the postgame interview Rob Refsnyder said “Champ” caught his home run and that it felt like things coming full circle because “Champ” had done a ritual involving salt to bring Refsnyder good luck while he was in a hitting slump.

“Champ” is the nickname for Mariners bullpen catcher and former NCAA national champion Justin Novak.
