This might be a generational, if not all-time year to be a Seattle Sports fan.
Dating back to 2025, the Seattle Mariners advanced to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series (the best postseason run in franchise history), the WNBA's Seattle Storm made the playoffs, the MLS-club the Seattle Sounders won the Leagues Cup and the PWHL's Seattle Torrent were founded and began their inaugural season in 2026.
The NFL's Seattle Seahawks won the second Super Bowl in franchise history Sunday in a 29-13 win against the New England Patriots and the NHL's Seattle Kraken are currently holding on to a playoff spot.
Seattle sports fans can get more good news by the summer. According to report on "X" from Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, the NBA Board of Governors is "likely" to vote on expanding the Association by two teams in the summer, with Las Vegas and Seattle the favorites to earn the expansion bids.
If that report comes true, it would mark the return of the NBA to Seattle, which saw the Seattle SuperSonics relocate to Oklahoma City in 2008 to become the Thunder.
