The Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers are set to face off in Game 1 of the American League Divisional Series at 5:38 p.m. PT on Saturday.
For those of you fans looking for familiar faces in the opposite dugout, the team's former closer will be pitching for Detroit.
Paul Sewald will be pitching for the Tigers. He threw a live bullpen Friday in the warm-up/workout day for both teams.
For those of you who need a refresher, Sewald pitched for Seattle from 2021-23. He was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31, 2023, in a deal that netted Seattle Josh Rojas, Ryan Bliss and Dominic Canzone.
Sewald signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Cleveland Guardians this offseason with a $10 million mutual option for 2026. Cleveland dealt Sewald to Detroit for future considerations on July 31 this season.
