Before the season began, the Seattle Mariners revealed that they would take their "Sunday creams" out of their uniform rotation. The cream threads were worn by the Mariners on Sunday home games the last several years.
To replace the creams, Seattle introduced uniforms paying homage to the Negro League Baseball team, the Seattle Steelheads, which played for one month in 1946.
The Mariners will play in the Steelheads uniforms for the first time this season in game four of a four-game series against the Cleveland Guardians at 4:20 p.m. PT on Sunday.
Before the game, Seattle tested out the new Steelheads-based graphics on the various LED and video boards throughout T-Mobile Park.
