After Sandy Alcantara took the mound for the Dominican Republic national baseball team, manager Albert Pujols offered insight into what could come next.

Pujols said he liked what he saw from Alcantara’s outing and suggested the World Baseball Classic finals could be the right moment for his next appearance if the Dominican Republic continues advancing.

Alcantara’s night ended after three innings, allowing three runs while striking out three, but the Dominican offense backed him up with a big power display to secure the win.

For the Miami Marlins ace, the message was clear after the game: he’s ready whenever his country calls.

Now the question becomes — will the next time we see Alcantara in the WBC be on the tournament’s biggest stage?
