The Marlins made a small but meaningful update at loanDepot park, and it is the kind of move longtime fans have been asking for.

For years, one of the biggest frustrations around the franchise was how little it seemed to embrace its own history. That started to change in 2022, when the team installed banners honoring the 1997 and 2003 World Series clubs.

The tribute was appreciated. The placement was not.

Because the banners were hung in front of the big glass windows in left field, they often looked faded or nearly invisible during day games. Instead of standing out as a celebration of two championship teams, they blended into the background.

That problem appears to be fixed now.

According to Fish On First’s Isaac Azout, the Marlins have moved the banners closer to the right field foul pole, where they now sit against concrete rather than glass. The updated teal look also gives them a stronger visual pop and feels much more in line with the team’s identity.

Best of all, the new setup does not block anyone’s view.

It may not be the biggest change the organization makes this season, but it is one fans can appreciate. Honoring franchise history should never feel like an afterthought, especially for a team with two World Series titles.

The timing is notable, too. The banners were still in their original location when loanDepot park hosted the World Baseball Classic final last Tuesday, so this was turned around in less than a week.
