The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced Maximo Acosta and Esteury Ruiz will join Kyle Stowers on rehab assignment on Wednesday.

The Miami Marlins traded for Ruiz over the offseason with the expectation of utilizing his speed at the top of the lineup, especially after stealing 63 bases in the minors last year, 83 bases in 2022, and 67 bases in his only full MLB season in 2023. The Marlins lost Ruiz to a high-grade left oblique strain in spring training around the same time as Stowers.

Acosta, who was a part of the package to Miami in the Jake Berger trade with the Texas Rangers, appeared in 54 games last year. Like Ruiz, Acosta was placed on 10-day injured list on March 25 (retroactive to March 22) for an oblique strain.
