Jacob Berry had only one hit on Saturday but made it count. His three-run home run was the difference in the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s 4-1 win over the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

Berry’s home run broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning, a tie he caused in the third by driving in a run on a ground out. Taylor Trammell hit a leadoff home run to provide Sugar Land (Astros) with its only run of the game.

Berry, whom the Miami Marlins picked in the first-round of the 2022 MLB draft, is coming a 2025 season in which he slashed .261/.348/.394 with 54 RBI and 27 SB. He hit the walk-off home run against Las Vegas (Athletics) to win the Triple-A National Championship for Jacksonville.

Honorable Mentions

  • Shortstop Carter Johnson drove in three runs including a solo home run in the Jupiter Hammerheads’ (Low-A) 14-1 win over Daytona.
  • Catcher Connor Caskenette drew three walks and hit a go-ahead solo home run to lead the Beloit Sky Carp (High-A) to a 5-4 win over Wisconsin.
  • Fenwick Trimble (Marlins No. 20 prospect) went 2-for-4 as the lone bright spot in the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ (Double-A) 9-0 loss against Montgomery.
