
Konnor Griffin, baseball’s top prospect, hit his third home run of spring training on Sunday to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in a Grapefruit League game at West Palm Beach, Fla.
Griffin belted a 408-foot shot off Cardinals starter Kyle Leahy. Griffin has four if the 11 hardest-hit balls by a Pirates player this spring.
Another rookie also homered as Jhostynxon Garcia went 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Jared Triolo was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. The Pirates (8-2) have scored 61 runs in 10 games.
Left-handed prospect Hunter Barco (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings for the win. The Pirates held the Cardinals to one hit, a fifth-inning single by Yohel Pozo.
