Rookie left-hander Hunter Barco continued his strong spring training performance by pitching two scoreless innings, but the Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the host Baltimore Orioles 5-2 on Friday night in a Grapefruit League game in Sarasota, Fla.

Barco lowered his spring ERA to 2.89 and batting average against to .156 in 9 1/3 innings. He allowed two hits on Friday night with three strikeouts and no walks.

Left-handed reliever Joe LaSorsa pitched one scoreless inning in his first appearance for the Pirates since Feb. 26, following a stint with Italy in the World Baseball Classic. In Grapefruit League play, hitters are 0 for 8 against La Sorsa.

Offensively,  Bryan Reynolds went 2 for 3 with an RBI as the Pirates dropped to 16-10. Opener Cam Sanders (0-1) took the loss.
