Dave Giusti, who starred on the Pittsburgh Pirates' World Series-winning team in 1971, has died. He was 86. The Pirates announced on Monday that Giusti died on Sunday, but did not provide a cause of death.

Giusti led the National League with 30 saves in 1971, then pitched 10 2/3 scoreless innings in the postseason. Giusti pitched for the Pirates for seven seasons from 1970-76 and is third in franchise history with 133 saves. He was selected for the 1973 All-Star Game.

Giusti made his debut with Houston in 1962 and also played with St. Louis, Oakland, and the Chicago Cubs in a 15-year career that ended in 1977. He a 100-93 record with 145 saved in 668 games, including 133 starts.
