The Pittsburgh Pirates will see a familiar pitcher when they open the season on March 26 against the Mets at Citi Field in New York.
The Mets announced that right-hander Freddy Peralta will start after being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers in an offseason trade. The Pirates and Brewers are National League Central foes, and Peralta faced Pittsburgh 25 times, including 16 starts, and was 4-2 with a 3.36 ERA.
Paul Skenes, last year’s NL Cy Young Award winner, will start for the Pirates.
