The Pittsburgh Pirates placed right-hander Braxton Ashcraft on the bereavement/family medical emergency list on Saturday and recalled right-handed reliever Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis. 

Sanders pitched in one game for the Pirates this season and allowed four runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 2/3 innings last Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Sanders, 29, had a 2.25 ERA and 15 strikeouts in eight innings in eight appearances for Indianapolis.
