The Pittsburgh Pirates have set their season-opening rotation and Carmen Mlodzinski has won the final spot.

Paul Skenes will start the opener on Thursday against the Mets in New York. Mitch Keller will pitch on Saturday, and Mlodzinski will start on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series.

Mlodzinski had been competing with rookie left-hander Hunter Barco and veteran right-handers Mike Clevinger and Jose Urquidy for the last rotation spot.

The Pirates then play a three-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati from March 30-April 1. Braxton Ashcraft and rookie Bubba Chandler will start the first two games. While Skenes is in line to pitch the finale, the Pirates might hold him back to start the home opener on April 3 against the Baltimore Orioles.
