The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with free-agent right-hander Jose Urquidy on a one-year, $1.5-million contract, with the deal pending a physical.

Urquidy, 30, was limited to two relief appearances with the Detroit Tigers last season and missed the 2024 season with the Houston Astros while recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery. Urquidy has a 27-16 career record, one save, and a 4.00 ERA in 81 games (70 starts) in six seasons with the Astros (2019-23) and Tigers (2025).
