Rookie Bubba Chandler was tagged for four runs in 1 2/3 innings in his first start of the spring and the Pittsburgh Pirates lost for the first time in Grapefruit League play, falling to the visiting New York Yankees 6-2 on Monday in Bradenton, Fla.

Marcell Ozuna hit an RBI single in the first inning in his first plate appearance with the Pirates (3-1). The designated hitter signed a one-year, $12-million contract last week as a free agent.

Also making his first appearance with the Pirates, left-hander Gregory Soto had three strikeouts while facing four batters in a scoreless fourth inning. The Pirates signed the reliever as a free agent in December.

Bryan Reynolds walked in both of his plate appearances. He has reached base safely in all five trips to the plate this spring.
