The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed outfielder/infielder Marco Luciano off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Luciano spent the 2025 season making the transition from middle infielder to left fielder with Triple-A Sacramento. He hit .214/.335/.413 with 23 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 125 games.

In 41 games with the Giants in 2023 and 2024, Luciano played both middle infield positions and had a slash line of .217/.286/.304 with no homers in 126 plate appearances.

Luciano, 24, was ranked as the 39th-best prospect in baseball by MLB.com prior to the 2024 season while Baseball Prospectus ranked No. 43 and Baseball America had him at No. 56.
