This year is the inaugural one of the Women's Professional Baseball League (WPBL), which has four teams, one of them being the Boston Hunters.

The Hunteres were managed by a former Boston Red Sox pitcher, Keith Foulke, who now has the (dis)honor of being the first manager fired in the new league's history.

Boston fired Foulke as skipper this week after just three games at the helm of the team.

Foulke pitched for the Red Sox from 2004-06 and got the final out to secure Boston the 2004 World Series, which snapped an 89-year World Series championship drought.
