Rockies Better Focus on Rumfield's Development

In a rather droll season, seeing young players like TJ Rumfield come up and deliver both at the plate and in the field for the Colorado Rockies was impressive. About his defense, Rumfield was named a Gold Glove finalist on Wednesday. The Colorado first baseman is positioning himself to get better. It will be worth noting how much the franchise keeps tabs on Rumfield's development. There is still plenty of room for improvement. Rumfield, though, deserves this recognition.Oct 14, 2026

Will Rockies Spend Cash for Upgrades?

After finishing a season like the Colorado Rockies did, there's only one way to go and that is up. How much, though, are the Rockies willing to spend for help? That's a big question heading deeper into the team's offseason. In looking at all four franchises in the National League and American League championship series, these ballclubs did open the pocketbook a bit. It will be interesting to see if the pocketbook gets opened a little more to bring in reinforcements for the Rockies before the 2027 MLB season rolls around.Oct 12, 2026

Could Rockies Pick Up Player or Two?

As Colorado Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes get serious about the upcoming season, they are going to try and get this team in better shape. One aspect that might take place for those two is looking toward the free agent market. There might be a pitcher or two that they can get for a reasonable contract. Still, their best bet might be to simply look toward the minor leagues and see what's down on the farm. Yeah, well, like I was saying, take a peek at the free agent pitchers out there.Oct 11, 2026

MLB Lockout Looms for Rockies

It's pretty well known around the baseball world that Major League Baseball, its owners, and the MLB Players Association are at a standstill for a new collective bargaining agreement. The Colorado Rockies, just like all the other MLB clubs, will be affected by a lockout. What can the players do in the meantime? They can take time off in the offseason, then get right back to work on their separate games. Whether it is a swing issue or a fielding problem, Rockies players can use this time to tweak those issues and come in ready to roll for Spring Training. No one knows, though, when Spring Training will start. So, keep your eyes on the ongoing discussions and see if the lockout can be avoided.Oct 9, 2026

Keep Your Eyes on MLB Proposal, Rockies Fans

We have a premium story up on the latest MLB proposal to the MLB Players Association that includes shrinking the regular season to 154 games, along with other tweaks. Look, this is a big deal and can affect how MLB goes about its business in the future. Rockies ownership, of course, supports this plan as they are on the owners' side in this matter. Pay attention, though, to what the MLBPA says about it. The Rockies will be affected if this gets put into action.Oct 8, 2026

Three Rockies on All-MLB Ballot

Right now, you can vote for TJ Rumfield, Hunter Goodman, and Jake McCarthy on the All-MLB Ballot. Earlier this week, the team put out a post on X about this. Here's what Colorado shared and also a link to vote for these Rockies players.Oct 7, 2026

Rookies Can Step It Up in 2027 for Rockies

Don't expect to see Cole Carrigg and TJ Rumfield rest on their laurels heading into the 2027 MLB season for the Colorado Rockies. These two guys brought a spark to the Rockies' lineup this season. They consistently went out and raised the style of play to another notch. Hustle, grit, and determination are three words I would use to describe them. They will keep on getting better and should have a stellar season for Colorado.Oct 4, 2026

Can Rockies Solve Pitching Problems?

Watching the Colorado Rockies' pitching staff this season was a headache at times. Starting pitchers went out and wanted to give Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer some length, only to see themselves get pulled after two or three tough innings. Entering 2027, Colorado must have starters that can give between 5-6 innings per start. That takes the pressure off of the bullpen.Oct 3, 2026

Rockies Need to Focus on Good Things

Sure, this offseason is going to be one worth watching for the Colorado Rockies. The team needs to make improvements. Yet don't ignore the good things about the club. Hunter Goodman, Cole Carrigg, TJ Rumfield, and Jake McCarthy were among those players who did provide a mixture of hustle and determination. That was evident at the plate and in the field, too. Let's hope the Rockies take this group and build on it, focusing on the good things.Oct 2, 2026

Thank You From Rockies Roundtable

I wanted to take a minute and thank you for following Rockies Roundtable. Even though we got a bit of a late start this season in covering the Colorado Rockies, myself and Rockies Roundtable reporter/writer Don Strouble did our best to bring you coverage of the ballclub. During the offseason, we will continue to follow the Rockies and report on what's going on with the team. One can expect Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and general manager Josh Byrnes to be busy on continuing the upward progression of the franchise. This season didn't end like Rockies players or fans wanted it to do so. Yet there are little signs of improvement. Let's see what the future holds for the Rockies. As well, let's see what the future holds for Rockies Roundtable. Again, thank you for following our coverage. Joe RutlandPublisher, Rockies RoundtableSep 28, 2026
