
I don’t really think that this is anything super earth-shattering, necessarily. Still, it’s worth pointing out because I think Montero is one of the pitchers that I’m going to be interested in watching in spring training. Pending an injury, I can’t imagine that he makes the five-man rotation. I would argue that’s pretty much all set in stone at this point, but he’s shown flashes in the two years that he’s been at the big leagues and even got his first career save in the postseason last year. It would be to his benefit to pitch well in spring because. Even though I don’t expect him to be one of the top-tier guys, I do think he could be a key contributor in some capacity. Worst-case scenario, he could be a key piece of the bullpen.
