Here's some interesting notes from the Tigers PR department:
WHAT A CATCH!: Dillon Dingler enters today's game with 14 RBI this year, the most among A.L. catchers ... Dingler ranks second among A.L. catchers with an .866 OPS, .is third with a 348 on-base percentage and second with a .517 slugging percentage.
- Since the 2000 season, Dingler is already one of only four Tigers to hit four homers as a catcher by the end of April, joining Jarrod Saltalamacchia (six homers in 2016), Wilson Ramos (six homers in 2021) and James McCann (five homers in 2017).
- Since 2000, Dillon Dingler is one of four Tigers with at least 14 RBI as a catcher by the end of April, joining Alex Avila (once), Ivan Rodriguez (twice) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (once) ... the Tigers are still scheduled to play 11 more games this month.
IT'S GOOD FOR SOMETHING: Kevin McGonigle has posted a team-leading 1.4 bWAR through his first 21 major league games, one of only seven big league position players to post such a mark or higher thus far this year ... the 21-year-old McGonigle is the youngest of the seven on this list, as no other player is younger than 24-years-old.
- McGonigle leads all major league rookies with a .312 batting average, .411 on-base percentage, six doubles and two triples ... he ranks eighth among all A.L. players in on-base percentage.
- McGonigle has reached base safely in 17-consecutive starts, the longest active such streak in the American League and the fourth-longest in all of baseball, trailing only Shohei Ohtani (19-straight starts in 2026), Bryce Turang (18 in 2026) and Matt Olson (18 in 2026).
