What should the Yankees lineup be when both Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger return?
The Yankees are expected to finally get back Cody Bellinger in the next week and Giancarlo Stanton by September 1st. This now raises the question on what there lineup should look like especially after trading for Luis Garcia Jr. and Heliot Ramos.
Do the Yankees bench Jazz Chisholm Jr and stomach Garcia Jr.’s horrific defense at second base?
Also, later on, what do they do with Spencer Jones if Aaron Judge comes back this season?
Bellinger will be manning LF as the best defensive left fielder in the sport and a close to .800 OPS bat
In that scenario, the Yankees lineup would be:
C: Austin Wells/Ali Sanchez (Potentially Mitch Garver)
1B: Ben Rice/Paul Goldschmidt
2B: Luis Garcia Jr.
3B: Ryan McMahon/Jose Caballero
SS: George Lombard Jr.
LF: Cody Bellinger/Heliot Ramos
CF: Trent Grisham
RF: Spencer Jones (Until Judge comes back)
A pretty logicial cut here would respectfully be Amed Rosario since he’s a butcher defensively at 3B, rarely plays at 2nd base, and isn’t a good defender in the outfield.
Rosario is a great clubhouse guy, has the ultimate vibes, but he isn’t hitting left handed pitching this season and is instead hitting righties at a way better clip. He’s solely a pinch-hitter and the Yankees probably would be fine with letting him go once they get some of there guys back
The way the offense has been hitting, we should welcome back both Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger with open arms and give them every day at bats
