The Cleveland Cavaliers are taking on the Detroit Pistons to finish a three-game homestand! I'll be live updating this page throughout the night.

The Cavs will be without Dean Wade (left knee soreness) and Jarrett Allen (illness), but Sam Merrill is available. Larry Nance Jr. (calf),  Luke Travers (two-way), Chris Livingston (two-way), and Max Strus are out.

The Pistons are missing Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, and Caris LeVert, who all didn't travel to Cleveland as they recover from injury.

Starters:

Pistons - Cunningham, Robinson, Thompson, Reed, Stewart

Cavs - Garland, Mitchell, Merrill, Tyson, Mobley

FIRST QUARTER

Fun start to a battle between these Central Division foes. Sam Merrill's off to a solid shooting start, and Cade Cunningham has ripped off eight points in five minutes. Cavs and Pistons tied at 13 early.

Cavs are playing with a lot of energy and putting Detroit on its heels. The Pistons' offense is looking shoddy so far, and some of these misses have been god awful.

Thomas Bryant and Nae'Qwan Tomlin's initial minutes have been fantastic. You can tell that Detroit's having a tough time with the lack of size so far. Cavs up 25-17 through the first nine minutes. They've forced six turnovers already and have 10 fastbreak points.

Cavs didn't even shoot it all that well to close the quarter, but that defense is PLAYING.

END 1Q: Cavs 28, Pistons 19

DET: Cunningham 8p, 1r, blk. Reed 4p, 4r, 1a, blk. Robinson 5p, 1a. Thompson 2p, 5r.

CLE: Merrill 9p, 1r, 1a. Mobley 6p, 2blk, 1a, 1r. Garland 6p, 1a.

SECOND QUARTER

The Pistons have no lie airballed four threes this afternoon so far.

Great move from J.B. Bickerstaff to turn to Daniss Jenkins, who immediately hits back-to-back threes off the bench. He was a big spark at the beginning of the season.

Good, good stuff from Mobley so far.

Lonzo Ball in again for the second straight game.

Detroit's done a nice job of responding in this frame. It's taking Cleveland to the paint and Jenkins has produced big time in his minutes. Rebounding's been a bear for the Cavs to handle without Jarrett Allen and Dean Wade. Pistons have 11 offensive boards.

Cavs turned over the Pistons in the first quarter, and now Detroit is paying them back in the second in a hurry. The script is flipped as Daniss Jenkins has 15 in the second. Smart move by J.B. to get him in for that energy. Pistons up 56-49.

Jenkins has 21 in his first 12 minutes of the game. The kid is hot!

HALF: Pistons 66, Cavs 56

DET: Jenkins 21p, 3a, 1r. Cunningham 12p, 5a, 1r, blk, stl. Robinson 12p, 3a, 1r, stl. Reed 8p, 7r, 4a.

CLE: Mobley 11p, 3a, 2r, 2blk. Merrill 12p, 1r, 1a, stl. Garland 12p, 2a, stl. Mitchell 7p, 2r, 2a, stl. Bryant 5p, 3r, stl.

THIRD QUARTER

Cavs score five straight out of the locker room, all from Donovan Mitchell. A couple stops on Stew in the pocket, some rebounds, and good hustle.

Great battle here between the Cavs and Pistons. It's starting to get really fun. Physicality's picking up steam.

Love the job that Tomlin's done on Cunningham. Also, Bryant has helped on the glass big time.

Old friend Javonte Green burned Cleveland for a couple corner treys.

Pretty back-and-forth affair in the third.

END 3Q: Pistons 87, Cavs 82

DET: Cunningham 23p, 5a, 3r, stl, blk. Jenkins 21p, 5a, 1r. Robinson 12p, 3a, 2r, 2stl. Reed 8p, 7r, 4a, stl.

CLE: Mitchell 20p, 3r, 3a, stl. Hunter 12p, 5r. Merrill 12p, 3r, 2a, stl. Garland 12p, 3a, 1r, stl. Mobley 11p, 4r, 4a, 3blk, stl.

FOURTH QUARTER

Pistons open up with a Cunningham bucket and Jaden Ivey triple.

This is a Woo revenge game. Also, Detroit set the tone for the fourth and haven't really looked back.

Cavs trying to rally. They were down 12 with six minutes left but have strung together some stops. Mitchell's activating late here. Garland's done a good job keeping the rock moving. Been a heck of a second half. Cleveland down 106-102 with 2:47 left.

Isaiah Stewart with the play of the dang game. What iso defense on Donovan Mitchell! Wow. Pistons get an offensive board from the weak side to go up 110-106 with 17.2 seconds left.

Mitchell splits a pair of free throws, but barring Detroit missing free throws, Cavs are gonna drop this one.
