The Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors are set to clash in Game 2 at Rocket Arena! I'll be live updating this page throughout the game. Please comment with your thoughts throughout.
For the second straight game, the Cavs will be without Thomas Bryant, while the Raptors are without Immanuel Quickley.
Game 2 Starters:
Raptors - Shead, Barrett, Ingram, Barnes, Poeltl
Cavs - Harden, Mitchell, Wade, Mobley Allen
FIRST QUARTER
Cavs start out hot, with Jarrett Allen getting set up early. Donovan Mitchell's benefited from a broken play and-one and an end-of-shot clock turnaround.
Jakob Poeltl's noticeably more active on the glass already.
Sam Merrill in the game now for Evan Mobley at about the 8-minute mark.
Mitchell's off to a heck of a start with seven quick ones. Cavs up 15-7 about five minutes into Game 2.
Max Strus comes in for Mitchell next.
James Harden's getting downhill again. Twelve total in the paint for the Cavs, who have a 19-12 advantage at the 4:02 mark.
Dennis Schroder checks in for Harden. He's playing with Mitchell, Strus, Mobley, and Sam Merrill.
That's Strus, always at the right place at the right time.
Cleveland did allow four offensive boards that quarter.
END 1Q: Cavs 26, Raptors 19
TOR: Murray-Boyles 4p, stl. Poeltl 2p, 4r, 2a.
CLE: Mitchell 7p, 2r, 1a, stl. Allen 6p, 1r, blk, stl. Harden 6p, 1r. Mobley 4p, 2r, 2a.
SECOND QUARTER
Jaylon Tyson enters for Jarrett Allen to begin the frame.
Sam Merrill has been burning every team on under-the-basket inbound cuts all year long. No idea how opponents don't see it coming by now.
Schroder's setting his teammates up quite well and is playing with energy defensively. Mobley's been the recipient and also just got a tip-in. Cavs up 38-29 three minutes into the second.
Keon Ellis checks in for Schroder. We've got Harden-Mitchell-Ellis-Tyson-Mobley. Don't know if Cavs have run this five before, but I'm a fan.
The Raptors' five of Shead-Barrett-Ingram-Murray-Boyles-Mamukelashvili might be their best look so far.
Little helter skelter the last few possessions. Second quarter was kinda rickety in Game 1 as well.
Harden got away with an off-arm for certain with that last one, but man, he can shoot the ball.
Toronto's made a run this quarter. Getting on the glass and turning the Cavs over in the open floor more than Game 1. Cleveland up 52-45 with 1:52 until half.
Mitchell and Harden are undoubtedly making the Cavs go in these first two contests. Scoring, passing, shooting. That's the name of the game offensively!
HALF: Cavs 54, Raptors 48
TOR: Barrett 10p, 6r, 3a. Barnes 9p, 2r, 2a, blk, stl. Mamukelashvili 8p, 3r, 1a, stl. Murray-Boyles 8p, 3r, stl.
CLE: Mitchell 15p, 4r, 2a, stl. Harden 16p, 2r, 1a, blk, stl. Mobley 12p, 3r, 2a, blk. Allen 6p, 2blk, 1r.
THIRD QUARTER
Raptors starting the second half with CMB instead of Poeltl.
Cavs kickstart the second half with a 7-1 run.
Cleveland is creating some distance despite Brandon Ingram scoring his first points of the game. Majority of the production is coming from the core of the squad tonight. Cavs up 68-55 at the first timeout of the half.
Now, the guys are looking for the early seals with Allen on CMB, and Toronto inserts Mamu.
Like the Cavs' backcourt, Mobley's had a terrific first couple of games in this series. I don't want to describe it as "relaxed," but honestly, there's not been any rushing or second-guessing from him whatsoever.
Raptors not going away. Ja'Kobe Walter's 12 off the bench has been big. Neither team shooting well from long range. Cavs up 79-71 with 2:04 remaining in the third after Don's fadeaway was determined after shot clock.
END 3Q: Cavs 84, Raptors 77
TOR: Barrett 16p, 7r, 5a. Barnes 15p, 3a, 2r, 2stl, blk. Mamukelashvili 10p, 8r, 2a, stl. Murray-Boyles 11p, 4r, 1a, blk, stl. Walter 12p, 1r, 1a, blk.
CLE: Mobley 23p, 8r, 2a, blk. Harden 21p, 3r, 3stl, 2a, blk. Mitchell 21p, 6r, 4a, stl. Allen 8p, 3blk, 1r, 1a, stl.
FOURTH QUARTER
Sam Merrill finally gets a triple to drop on his fifth try off a Mitchell baseline corner kick.
Toronto's getting feistier. Barnes has responded well getting toward the bucket.
Huge hits from Merrill and Tyson from each corner because the Raptors are biting into this game. Mamu's clearly a better option for Toronto at the 5 right now and Barnes is getting feisty. Five fouls on RJ Barrett, though. Cavs up 92-86 with 6:46 to go.
FANTASTIC communication on D from James Harden to Evan Mobley on Mamu driving the ball, then picking off Toronto's big man to get Donovan Mitchell in the open floor for an easy deuce. Cavs up 104-90 with 3:53 left.
