The Cleveland Cavaliers are hosting the Philadelphia 76ers on the second night of a back-to-back! I'll be live updating this page throughout the night.
The Cavs will be without Jarrett Allen, Max Strus, Tyrese Proctor, and Olivier Sarr (two-way). The 76ers won't have Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecombe, or Johni Broome available.
STARTERS
76ers - Payne, Grimes, Oubre, Barlow, Bona
Cavs - Harden, Mitchell, Merrill, Wade, Mobley
FIRST QUARTER
Cavs trying to get the ball to Evan Mobley early again. Seeing a lot of James Harden on the block, back to basket, trying to draw defenders and kick. Cleveland a cool 0-for-7 from three already with three Sam Merrill misses. One was just cruel.
Subs in order have gone Dennis Schroder for Donovan Mitchell, then Jaylon Tyson and Keon Ellis for Sam Merrill and Dean Wade. Thomas Bryant checked in for Mobley afterward. Harden, per usual, hasn't checked out yet.
Harden joins the 29,000-point club at the free-throw line, then proceeds to make a step-back three on the right side.
The 76ers are up 18-16 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. Nothing particularly standing out so far aside from another poor shooting start.
Good minutes from Thomas Bryant on the glass and protecting the rim. Tough task against Andre Drummond.
A 36% shooting quarter on 23% from deep for Cleveland, but Tyson knocks down a three at the end of the quarter from Mitchell.
END 1Q: Cavs 26, Sixers 20
PHI: Grimes 8p, 1r, blk. Oubre 4p, 1r, 1a. Barlow 4p, 1r. Payne 2p, 4r, 1a.
CLE: Harden 7p, 2r, 1a. Mobley 5p, 1r, blk. Schroder 4p. Tyson 3p, 1r, 1a, blk.
SECOND QUARTER
Cavs get Craig Porter Jr. his first minutes of the evening. He's in with Mitchell, Ellis, Wade, and Mobley.
Nine quick points for Donovan Mitchell, all off the bounce/at the line, to start the period. Cavs up 35-25 about two-and-a-half minutes into the second.
Keon Ellis is putting yesterday behind him in a hurry. Three triples already on four tries.
Cleveland's gotten a lot of shooting production from Ellis today. He's got team-high 14 on 4-of-5 from distance. Cavs up 52-37 with three minutes left in the first half.
Late five-point flurry from Cam Payne, who's had his best half probably since joining Philly.
HALF: Cavs 56, Sixers 44
PHI: Grimes 14p, 4r, 1a. Payne 9p, 5r, 3a. Bona 4p, 3r. Edwards 5p, 1r.
CLE: Mitchell 13p, 3a, 2r, stl. Harden 12p, 3r, 1a. Ellis 14p, 1r. Mobley 5p, 3r, blk. Wade 3p, 4r, 1a, blk.
THIRD QUARTER
Harden's cooking out of the gate. Kelly Oubre Jr. is not having a good time.
How about nine points with nine boards and a couple of assists for Wade in 16 minutes?
JT hits a corner three off a Harden assist. Cavs open up a 78-55 lead on the Sixers just over midway through the third.
A couple of triples for Bryant now. It's not like Cleveland is shooting the lights out, but it certainly is better than what we saw Sunday in the first half.
END 3Q: Cavs 87, Sixers 66
PHI: Grimes 17p, 5r, 3a. Payne 12p, 6r, 4a. Bone 8p, 7r.
CLE: Harden 21p, 5a, 4r, blk. Ellis 17p, 2r. Mitchell 13p, 4a, 2r, 2stl. Wade 9p, 9r, 2a, blk. Mobley 9p, 6r, 3blk. Bryant 8p, 6r, 1a, blk.
FOURTH QUARTER
Sixers open up with a 16-11 advantage in the first four minutes of the final frame. Atkinson calls for time, and Harden's gonna get back in.
Cavs took care of business today, had some nice bounce back nights from the role players. Just not much else to take away.
