The Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors are set to clash in Game 7 at Rocket Arena in a winner-take-all matchup! I'll be live updating this page throughout the game. Please comment with your thoughts throughout.
Brandon Ingram is out for the Raptors.
Game 7 Starters:
Raptors - Shead, Walter, Barrett, Barnes, Poeltl
Cavs - Harden, Mitchell, Wade, Mobley, Allen
FIRST QUARTER
Cavs start out a little overzealous with a Jarrett Allen missed right-hand slam and Evan Mobley catching the ball on the left sideline out of bounds.
Scottie Barnes is off to a terrific start with his patience. Nice mid-range game and job of drawing attention at just the right moment to swing it to Ja'Kobe Walter and Jamal Shead. Since the early OB TO, Evan Mobley's been locked in as well for Cavs. Raptors up 13-7 off rip.
Donovan Mitchell's 0-for-3, including two corner misses and a drive that was into traffic. In come Sam Merrill and Max Strus for him and Evan Mobley.
Mitchell and Mobley weren't on the bench for long. They come in with Jaylon Tyson to go with Strus and Merrill as Harden and Wade hit the bench.
It was 22-12 Raptors to start the first quarter in Game 5, and that's the case here in Game 7. Cavs can't get anything to fall inside or outside. Raptors have forced four turnovers and have 7 assists on 9 field goals.
Max Strus has drawn two charges to this point. Huge.
Don got going a little better there in his second shift.
Cavs close the first quarter on a 12-4 run. Evan Mobley contests Scottie Barnes on the last jumper. It's a two-point game.
END 1Q: Raptors 26, Cavs 24
TOR: Barnes 5p, 4a, 2r. Shead 7p, 1a. Murray-Boyles 4p, 2stl, 1r, 1a.
CLE: Harden 5p, 1r, stl. Merrill 5p, 1r, 1a. Mitchell 5p, 1r. Allen 4p, 4r, blk.
SECOND QUARTER
Dennis Schroder starts the quarter out for Cleveland. Nice spin move to the rack, but no dice on the lay-in.
The Raptors are off to a 13-5 spurt to begin the second. Jamal Shead and Ja'Kobe Walter are crushing it. Scottie Barnes is dragging James Harden into multiple bodies defensively. Toronto's just FLYING AROUND.
AJ Lawson commits a hard foul on Jarrett Allen, and the refs are reviewing for a Flagrant. Pretty sure that is a 1. No retaliation from the Cavs, as JA stops Max Strus from doing so.
It is ruled a common foul. Play on.
Mobley picks up his third foul trying to keep Poeltl off the glass.
Harden trying for the home run instead of the single. Mitchell guilty of it, too, especially on a four-point swing when he tried to split a double in transition after a big stop. Raptors up 43-36 with 3:53 left in the half.
HALF: Cavs 49, Raptors 49
TOR: Barnes 14p, 4a, 2r. Shead 14p, 2a, 1r. Barrett 9p, 3r, 2a, 2stl.
CLE: Harden 10p, 3r, 2a, 2stl. Merrill 8p, 2r, 2a. Mitchell 7p, 1r. Allen 6p, 5r, 1a, blk. Strus 5p, 4r, 3a. Mobley 6p, 4r, blk.
THIRD QUARTER
Cavs carrying over their close of the first half to start this third quarter. Activity in general is up, especially from Donovan Mitchell. Also, it’s nice to have Evan Mobley back out there after he got into foul trouble.
Donovan Mitchell commits a Flagrant 1 on CMB underneath the bucket, then Mobley picks up his fourth only five minutes into the second half.
Scottie Barnes also gets whistled for his fourth. This is crazy.
With Raptors cutting into the lead, Cavs get those hands active. A steal for James Harden and Jarrett Allen each in succession.
Jaylon Tyson, Max Strus, and Sam Merrill have been really, really effective tonight. That helps a ton. Cavs lead it 72-59 with 4:31 left in the third quarter.
Give Jarrett Allen a bunch of credit. He is running the court in transition and putting his shoulder into CMB and Poeltl both this half. He's made a living in that near-side dunker spot and the guys are looking for him.
Okay, the Cavs are in a position, again, to stomp out the Raptors for good. Will they do it, or will they give them a chance to come back again?
JA is dominating the third quarter, and the Cavs need it with Mobley in foul trouble. Back-to-back blocks on AJ Lawson and CMB. Place went nuts. Cleveland up 80-65 with 2:09 remaining in the third.
Barnes was just whistled for a loose ball foul, his fifth, as Allen chased down every possession. What a frame for the team overall.
Strus and JA are smiling after playing a game of hot potato that gets the big man to the free-throw line.
END 3Q: Cavs 87, Raptors 68
TOR: Barnes 20p, 5r, 5a. Shead 14p, 4a. Barrett 12p, 3r, 3a, 3stl. Murray-Boyles 8p, 4a, 2r, 2stl, blk.
CLE: Allen 20p, 15r, 2a, 2blk. Merrill 11p, 3r, 2a. Harden 14p, 5r, 3a, 3stl. Mitchell 16p, 2r. Mobley 10p, 5r. Strus 7p, 5r, 4a, 2stl, blk. Tyson 7p, 7r, 4a.
FOURTH QUARTER
Donovan Mitchell gets a round of applause after diving into the seventh row to try to pick off a pass.
MVP chants for JA in Game 7.
Everybody was so focused on James Harden and Donovan Mitchell going into Game 7, and the Cavs "others" took matters into their own hands. Cleveland leads 97-78 with 7:56 left in regulation.
Raptors keep pushing but they're just missing even the open ones from deep now. Cavs starting to sense it...
