With Ja Morant's future in Memphis increasingly uncertain, the Grizzlies need someone to build around. GG Jackson II has been making his case since the All-Star break — averaging 17.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 44.4% from 3-point range.
He's 21 years old, 6-foot-9, and generating 0.94 points per possession in isolation this season, ranking in the 61st percentile league-wide. The footwork and scoring instincts are already there. The production is starting to follow.
Between Jackson II, Cedric Coward, and Zach Edey, Memphis may already have three foundational pieces in place, with a high lottery pick potentially on the way this summer to add a fourth.
Is GG Jackson II the real deal, or is it too early to crown him as being among the face of the Grizzlies' next era?
