The Sacramento Kings' energetic rookie center Dylan Cardwell has stood out as one of the most surprising first-year big men in the NBA, and his productive play has led the franchise to offering him a standard NBA contract.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the undrafted rebounding big landed the deal on Thursday night in the aftermath of the trade deadline.

"The Sacramento Kings are signing rookie center Dylan Cardwell to a four-year deal, agent Corey Marcum tells ESPN," Charania announced via X.

"The deal includes two fully guaranteed years. Cardwell has averaged 4.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 20 minutes this season."

Though Kings fans may view the organization's trade deadline as a disappointment, the news of Cardwell's long-term contract provides a splash of excitement in the midst of a 10-game skid.
