Even with a new lineup and Cooper Flagg’s 20-point effort, the Mavs couldn’t close it out. His potential game-winner rimmed out in the final seconds as New Orleans escaped with the win.

Klay Thompson came off the bench for the first time as a Maverick and reached 2,000 career assists, but the offensive struggles continue. Dallas entered the night last in the NBA in scoring and still couldn’t reach triple digits.

At this point, it’s fair to ask: Is this rock bottom, or can it get worse?
