First Quarter
- Houston got off to a hot start, up 7-0.
- Jordan Poole hits a deep three to open up for the scoring for New Orleans.
- Herbert Jones hits a middy for his first points of the game, the home crowd seemed excited. Rockets up 18-14.
- Jabari Smith is doing whatever he wants early on in this game and Saddiq Bey quickly comes in for Zion. Karlo Matkovic and Jeremiah Fears also in, Jordan Poole and Yves Missi are out.
- Happy 19th Birthday to Fears. He quickly attacks the rom, but gets stripped by Amen Thompson. Houston leads 22-14.
- Trey Murphy gets into the passing lane and forces a Thompson turnover. Green has said that was an area of focus for Murphy this offseason. Rockets lead 22-16.
- There's Zion. He's scored or assisted on six straight as New Orleans ties the game at 26.
- The Pelicans end the first quarter with a wave of momentum. They now lead 28-26, ending the frame on an 8-0 run, mostly fueled by Zion.
Second Quarter
- Fears finds points in the mid-range game. He's been a little erratic to start this one, was good to see him slow his game down a little bit and create an open shot. Rockets lead 34-30.
- It has been the athletic wings giving New Orleans trouble in this one. Jabari has 16 and Tari Eason has 11. Sengun and Durant have combined for just 6 points and the Rockets lead 44-37.
- Two very feisty players, Jose Alvarado and Amen Thompson, got into after a rebound and had to be separated. This one is being reviewed.Alvarado was holding on for dear life after the rebound and took Thompson down. Houston leads 45-41.
- Alvarado got Td up and now it's time to get this preseason game moving again.
- Jordan Poole laughed when I asked him about his defense earlier this preseason. I assume he knows his reputation.I've really liked what he has brought to that side of the ball tonight. He's done well against multiple positions, even stopping Kevin Durant.
- New Orleans takes a late lead on a Karlo Matkovic three ball, but Durants puts the Rockets back ahead 60-59 at the half on a two-point shot.
Third Quarter
- Zion has been all over the court in this one. He's been at the rim, hit a jump shot, rebounds, assists and steals. He's -15 on the night so far, but in the preseason it is just good to see him so active.
