As a key architect for the Detroit Pistons' turnaround from a 60-loss squad to a 60-win team in just two seasons, Trajan Langdon was a strong candidate for the NBA's Executive of the Year Award. However, the Pistons' President of Basketball Operations finished in third place behind Brad Stevens of the Boston Celtics (winner) and Onsi Saleh of the Atlanta Hawks (third place) for the honor.

While Langdon has been instrumental in the team's dramatic recovery in such a short timespan, he did receive some criticism for being too cautious around the Trade Deadline as opposed to making a big swing for a secondary scorer who could help lift Detroit during the playoffs. However, Langdon did orchestrate a deal to offload Jaden Ivey to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Kevin Huerter and an improved first round draft pick, so there were some clear positives in Langdon's work around the deadline.
