This season, Pistons forward Ausar Thompson has solidified himself as one of the premier point-of-attack defenders in the NBA. With over 100 steals and 50 blocks already, Thompson is a menace for opposing ball handlers, and Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff hyped up his stellar defender after a seven-steal performance against the Golden State Warriors:

“It just is amazing at how disruptive he can be," Bickerstaff said. "He single-handedly can eliminate guys. He single-handedly can create chaos on that end of the floor. He creates confusion with his ability to be what it seems like six places at once, block shots, get steals, get deflections, frustrate guys because he can pick them up full court and they can’t get around him. So, it’s elite. It’s impressive, and it’s not easy, and I think that’s what people need to show that end of the floor a little more respect. We all want to talk about points and all that, but what he does on a night in, night out basis is extremely difficult, and he’s one of the best in the business at it.”

Thompson has all the qualities that would lend themselves to an All-Defensive team selection, but it will be close regarding whether AT meets the games played requirement.

Do you think AT has put together an All-Defense caliber campaign? First or second team, for that matter?
