Last season, Kevin Huerter split time between the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls and was a modest contributor at just under 10 points per game in mostly a reserve role, but the eight-year pro did connect on 33.8% of hit shots from three-point range. Now, that's still a step down from Huerter's career rate of 37%, but it's decent efficiency from a motion shooter who lacked a true playmaking point guard to work off of. Huerter will not have that issue in Detroit with Cade Cunningham initiating offense, so I'd expect for the vet's efficiency to climb back around his career average.
With Huerter in Motown, the Pistons have another accomplished shooter to use on the perimeter, in essence unclogging the paint for Cunningham and Jalen Duren to work more freely since teams tend to collapse in the paint against Detroit. Huerter has significant perimeter gravity, and a lineup featuring both he and Duncan Robinson on the wings would provide the Pistons with enough long-range shooting ability to force teams to play honest defense.
