A cryptic Instagram post featuring a Detroit-style cap has sparked trade rumors, but the superstar’s contract and history of diverse sports fashion suggest fans shouldn't panic just yet.

The Houston Rockets’ future Hall of Fame forward, Kevin Durant, has made headlines again this summer. This time it all stems from an Instagram post.

Many people are suggesting that the Detroit Tigers style of logo on the hat could indicate Durant’s desire to play in that city. After all, the Detroit Pistons were at the top of the Eastern Conference team last season.

It is worth noting that other photos from the same post show multiple of his Rockets teammates. It’s not like he’s completely distancing himself.

It’s even more important to mention that Durant doesn’t necessarily control his own destiny. He’s under contract. He could request a trade if he wanted, but there’s no guarantees that he would end up in his preferred destination.

This “preferred destination” based on an Instagram post might be a bit of a stretch, though. That is just the same as any other Old English “D”, even if it is a Tigers hat.

Durant has also been a sports fan for longer than any of us have known who he is. He wears apparel from teams all across the globe, so let’s not overreact yet.

Maybe someone should check his burner accounts, but until we get more concrete evidence, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about here.
