Don't look too far ahead beyond this season

Before we have even started the 2026-2027 season, I am already seeing all kinds of people questioning whether or not the Thunder will be re-signing Cason Wallace. Will OKC be able to re-sign Ajay Mitchell without breaking the bank after this season? And will Sam Presti have to choose between Jalen Williams or Chet Holmgren?

Enough. Are these real conversations we need to have? For the most part, yes, but I feel like we are too caught up in those theoreticals and down-the-line fears instead of focusing on what is right in front of us.

The Thunder are currently, at worst, the co-favorites to win the NBA Championship this season. They have the reigning and defending back-to-back MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the rest of the team looks like they're ready to improve, and hopefully both health luck will be on their side.

So yes, these are real concerns the fanbase should be aware of, but I hope these big-time decisions don't overshadow what very well could be another great season that ends with a Larry O'Brien trophy in Oklahoma City.
