At his Thursday news conference, Gator men's basketball coach Todd Golden said 7-foot-1 center Micah Handlogten will miss Friday night's sold-out home game against Merrimack College due to the facial injury he received Sunday against Miami.

He’s doing great (but) he (Handlogten) got banged up pretty good (in the Miami game), took an elbow to the chin on Sunday night, so he will not play tomorrow (Friday) night," Golden said. "He’s still in his rehab, and just kind of getting back healthy.

"We’re hopeful he’ll be back next week when we get out west when we play those games in San Diego."

Following the Merrimack game, the defending national champion Gators (3-1) are scheduled to compete in the Rady Children's Invitational Nov-27-28 in San Diego. No. 10 Florida takes on Texas Christian on Nov. 27, followed by either Providence or Wisconsin on Nov. 28. The games will be held at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on the campus of the University of San Diego. Television coverage will be provided by Fox Sports.
