Multiple sources are reporting Florida redshirt edge rusher George Gumbs, Jr., who leads the Gators in tackles for loss (6.5) and is second on the team in sacks (2.5 sacks), will undergo surgery knee surgery.

Considering he was one of the UF players made available to the media during the squad's weekly news conference Monday, the injury comes as a surprise. There's no word if Gumbs' injury came in practice this week, but there's no question he will be a big loss for the Gator defense as it prepares to host No. 20 Tennessee in The Swamp on Saturday night.

According to 247 Sports' Graham Hall, Gumbs will have surgery this week to repair the meniscus in his right knee. There's no word yet on his recovery timeline, but it seems likely Gumbs' season is over.

Besides his tackles for loss and sacks, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Gumbs has 31 total tackles, with 14 solo stops. He has started in nine of Florida's 10 games this season.
