It's time for the LSU Tigers to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks after a week away.
Eyes will be on the Tigers' offense with Garrett Nussmeier, given this as his target date for being back to full health. If LSU struggles to move the ball again, they could be in bigger trouble than anyone expected.
Here is a running thread of everything happening in the game, come join the discussion:
1st Quarter
- LSU starts with the ball. Game is on ESPN NEWS until the Tennessee game is over.
- Harlem Berry getting involved early in the offense is a good sign to see, even with Caden Durham back.
- Joe Sloan got into his bag during the bye week. Love seeing Ju'Juan Johnson getting wildcat looks. He was a great high school quarterback.
- The throw from Nussmeier was a bit behind the receiver, setting up an easy Damian Ramos touchdown. LSU leads 3-0.
- Harold Perkins Jr. shot out of a cannon on first down to blow up the Gamecocks' run, pushing them back to 2nd and 14.
- South Carolina gets a couple of first downs to get them into field goal range, but the drive stalls and they kick one of the worst field goals that I have seen this season. Tigers ball.
- Nussmeier uncorked one to Nic Anderson and it certainly looked more like one of his deep passes. Looks healthier.
- Ju'Juan Johnson fumbles at the goal line, Gamecocks ball.
- Matthew Fuller breaks off a 72-yard touchdown run. South Carolina leads 7-3.
2nd Quarter
- It's crazy. The Tigers offensive line creates some push and gives Durham room to get outside for a 23-yard run.
- Another deep ball from Nussmeier that looks much closer to what he was last season.
- Into the red zone after a catch for 14 yards from Trey'Dez Green, a Gamecocks player was hurt on the play.
- Green gets the matchup in the red zone and gets the touchdown. LSU leads 10-7.
- Both offenses punt back-to-back, defenses getting comfortable.
- Sellers fires one deep, but it dies off and falls into the arms of Tamarcus Cooley. Tigers ball on their 20.
- Now it's Nussmeier's turn. He sails a pass over the middle and into the arms of a defender.
- A Jack Pyburn sack on Sellers halts all Gamecocks momentum before the half ends.
- Teams head to the lockers with LSU up 10-7.
3rd Quarter
- A dink-and-dunk drive gets South Carolina into field goal range before things stall out. Game tied at 10-10.
- THERE is the big play offense that the Tigers need. Nussmeier finds Kyle Parker over the middle of the field, and he takes it the rest of the way for a 43-yard touchdown. LSU up 17-10.
- That was a LOT of heart from Nussmeier on that run. Ankle clearly bothering him, and he breaks off for 23 yards on third down.
- Johnson finds a lane and goes 56 yards to set the Tigers up just outside of goal-to-go territory.
- A heartbreaking interception for Nussmeier at the one-yard line after a couple of big plays.
4th Quarter
- Sellers' numbers aren't crazy on the ground, but I'll be interested to see how many missed tackles he has forced.
