Former Northwestern forward Tayla Thomas will transfer to another Big Ten school, Minnesota, per On3's Talia Goodman.
She will reunite with her former teammate, Leah Harmon, who was a former five-star recruit and also transferred to Minnesota from UCF this year. Both spent one season at the IMG in 2024.
Last season, Thomas took a significant role as a sophomore alongside Grace Sullivan in the 'Cats frontcourt, averaging 9.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 29 games she played (28 starts). She shot 43.9% on the field and 65.7% from the free-throw line, nailing seven triples last season.
So far, Northwestern women's basketball has acquired two transfers, guard Camdyn Nelson and guard Lexi Blue, from the portal. Following the departures of Sullivan and Thomas, who occupied the majority of the 'Cats' team scoring last season, the program should gear up to search for replacements from the portal, with three days left before the portal's closure.
