College football is usually crazy in terms of the coaching carousel, but I'm not sure I have ever seen it quite like this. Several of the arguably top coaching jobs in the country are available, as well as a host of other power programs who have moved on from their coach so far this season. Job openings at Penn State, LSU, Florida, Virginia Tech, Stanford, UCLA, and more, illustrate just how quickly things can change. The reason this could be important to NU is the potential to flip recruits.

The Wildcats already made some noise this season when they flipped four-star Penn State OL recruit Jack Fuchs, an offensive tackle (OT) who stands as the highest-rated recruit of the David Braun Era in Evanston if he signs with the program. Northwestern should be scouring the nation for these opportunities with so many head coaches on the way out. This likely means there are tons of recruits who are less sure of their original choice now that the person--in many cases--in charge of their recruitment is no longer with the program.

Big wins like Northwestern's three-point win over UCLA in September, or their 22-21 win over the Nittany Lions in October go a long way towards increasing their exposure, and the recruiting trail in its current, chaotic state, is the perfect way for the Wildcats to build on that positive exposure as they ramp up for a massive test against the 18th ranked Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
