Wildcats Legend Gets Curt Cignetti Comparison

Northwestern football went to the Rose Bowl in January 1996, the culmination of a special season from a special team coached by Gary Barnett.

Over the weekend, the former NU coach was compared to another Big Ten giant killer, Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti, by announcer and former USC running back Petros Papadakis.

Papadakis called Michigan State's win over Toledo during which he shared his respect for Barnett and Cignetti.

He said Cignetti's coaching job last season, when he led Indiana to the national championship, was the best he's ever seen in college football, displacing Barnett's from 1995 as his previous choice. 

High praise for a Northwestern legend Barnett, a shining example that David Braun can aspire to reaching as his Wildcats career continues to evolve.
