It was another busy afternoon for us on the Irish Breakdown podcast. Earlier this morning, Notre Dame flipped 2027 California offensive lineman Jackson Hill from UCLA. Hill is a 6-7, 300-pound offensive lineman from Chaminade Prep in West Hills California. We broke down his recruitment and followed that up with a continuation of our 'State of the Program' series. Up next is the 2026 Fighting Irish running backs. They have big shoes to fill stepping in for Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price who were both first round draft picks in this year's draft.
We wrapped everything up with a daily mailbag geared around running backs and recruiting.
Part 1 - Ends 0:46:00
In part one of today's show, we break down Hill's commitment to the Irish. Hill was previously committed to UCLA but ended up flipping his commitment to Notre Dame. Like we usually do, we talk about the backstory of his commitment, talk about his impact in the 2027 class and breakdown his film. The California native adds size and upside to Notre Dame's 2027 offensive line class.
Part 2 - Ends 1:20:16
Notre Dame will have to replace two stars in their backfield this upcoming season with Love and Price headed off to the NFL. It's not every year the Irish have to replace two first-round draft picks in the backfield. In part two of today's show, we talk through the roles Aneyas Williams and Kedren Young will play this upcoming season. We've seen both in game setting before and it did not disappoint. Are they ready to step into the spotlight? We break that down in today's show.
Part 3 - Ends 1:45:56
The future in Notre Dame's backfield is also looking bright. This spring, due to injury, we saw a lot of rising redshirt freshman Nolan James Jr. and true freshman Jonaz Walton. Later this fall, we'll hopefully get to see fellow incoming freshman Javian Osborne. The Irish are also staying hot on the recruiting trail and have capped off their 2027 running back recruiting class with Lathan Whisenton and Isaiah Rodgers in the class. In part three of today's show, we talk about the future of the running back position in South Bend.
Part 4 - Remainder Of Show
We wrapped everything up today with a daily mailbag. We covered topics about recruiting and the running back rooms. Today was a more open mailbag than previous daily mailbags. Our daily listeners brought the heat once again. We'd also love to hear from you all! What's your feedback from today's show? Where do you see the Notre Dame running back room in 2026 and beyond?
