There are a few freshmen to be excited about in this Ohio State class, and Legend Bey is one of them.

Ohio State's freshman class has some legitimate elite potential in it at all positions. The class has five stars all over it, from the defensive side of the ball to wide receiver to running back.

At some point, one or two of them will rise above the rest as the best player in the class, and the early reports are that running back Legend Bey might be the cream of the crop.

Bey's journey to Ohio State was fascinating. He was committed to the University of Tennessee and even signed there on signing day. As the days went on after the Signing Day, rumors were surfacing that he was going to back out of the commitment.

Then the real story surfaced, and his mom and family led the charge to force him to sign at Tennessee to stay a bit closer to home, even though he wanted to go to Columbus, Ohio.

Once he turned 18 and legally became an adult, his commitment to Tennessee was rescinded, and he quickly signed a letter of intent to Ohio State.

Then Bey showed up to Spring Ball and started to really take over.

Head coach Ryan Day doubled down, further comparing him to Tyreek Hill and how unstoppable he could be when he has the ball in his hands.

On Friday after practice, Ohio State running back coach Carlos Locklyn made the statement of the day. He said, "Legend is... Legend. That means he has the chance to be really good."

Coaches don't just accidentally say that about a young player in a program unless they mean it. For Bey, it is very obvious that he is a coach's favorite, and there are ideas swirling on how he can be used in this Ohio State offense next year.

Now the question becomes how are they going to utilize him and how much can they get him the football? The challenge here is that Jeremiah Smith should probably be option one and two for the Buckeyes offense, Bo Jackson is likely the third option, Isaiah West is option 4, and one of the backup wide receivers is option 5. That leaves Bey checking in as the sixth option in the offense, at least to start.

If he shows promise early, then that could certainly change, but the positive is that he is not going to have the pressure on him early to perform with the expectation of production.

Columbus is excited to see Legend Bey on the field, and we are just a few short months away from learning what "Legend is Legend" means.
