Choctaw linebacker Israel Hammons, a four-star recruit in the 2027 class, verbally committed to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Friday night during an Instagram live.

A top-20 linebacker in the 2027 class, Hammons is head coach Eric Morris’ only linebacker in the Cowboys class to date and the third defensive player in the OSU nine-player recruiting class. Hammons held 26 offers from the likes of Texas, SMU, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Duke, North Texas, and Tulsa.

Hammons is the first four-star commit of the Eric Morris era for the Cowboys. The last time the Cowboys signed a four-star prospect was the 2022 recruiting class, which finished ranked 24th in the nation according to Rivals, when Talyn Shettron (Edmond, Okla.), Tyrone Webber, Ollie Gordon, Garret Rangel, Braylin Presley (Bixby, Okla.), CJ Brown (Beggs, Okla.), and DeSean Brown (Choctaw, Okla.) inked with the Pokes.
